Together we recorded six original human-rights-focused songs, using both DIY methods and professional studio setups.<br \/>\nBut what inspired us most went beyond the music itself.<\/p>\n<p>We witnessed participants teaching and uplifting each other, turning ideas into powerful messages, and showing how art can build bridges across differences. The week reminded us that creativity, courage, and collaboration can spark real change &#8211; and that music has the power to transform conversations about human rights, empowerment, and ACTION TRAINING 2025, PHASE 1: Zagreb, Croatia<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><strong>From September 7\u201313, we gathered 20 participants from Germany, the Netherlands, Croatia, and Spain for the first phase of our Songs for Action 2025 training, hosted at Centar Ribnjak in Zagreb.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Throughout the week, participants:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Explored the Songs for Rights LACPA methodology (Learn\u2013Assimilate\u2013Create\u2013Produce\u2013Advocate).<\/li>\n<li>Designed and facilitated workshops.<\/li>\n<li>Wrote and performed original songs on themes of democracy, freedom, and human rights.<\/li>\n<li>Built a strong European network of musicians, educators, and activists committed to social change.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Phase 2 will take place in Barcelona (Nov 2\u20138) at @Lamasia, world.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Building on the songwriting process we started in the Netherlands (where we created six powerful songs), we moved onto the \u2018Produce\u2019 and \u2018Advocate\u2019 stages of our LACPA method in Italy. Over the course of 5 days, they not only deepened their understanding of human rights, but also explored how music can serve as a powerful tool for collaboration and expression.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As Chris, one of the participants, reflected:\u00a0<em>&#8220;What I learned is that when you stop talking and start acting, the music flows, and it becomes much easier to create something.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>This workshop wasn\u2019t just about music\u2014it was also about learning how to facilitate. With the supportive guidance of trainers <a id=\"ember226\" class=\"ember-view\" href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/alanibrahim-mfi\/\">Alan Ibrahim<\/a> and <a id=\"ember227\" class=\"ember-view\" href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/rian-evers-4b6a89123\/\">Rian Evers<\/a>, our participants are transitioning from learners to leaders. Throughout the SfA program, they faced the challenge of working as a team, learning to give constructive feedback, as well as receiving it with openness. The experience of shifting from participant to facilitator was a key highlight of the program.<\/p>\n<p>With a focus on spreading passion for learning and connecting through music, the atmosphere pleasure to host our first Songs for Rights Training in Berlin from 13-16 October at the Landesmusikakademie Berlin. Together with 15 selected musicians, human rights activists, youth workers and educators from around the world, the SfR team Juan David Garzon, Jonas Deitert, Jochen Schell and Linn Radtke created an unforgettable learning experience.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Over 4 days, participants discovered the innovative Songs for Rights LACPA approach \u2013 an effective method for learning, assimilating, creating, producing, and advocating for human rights through the art of music. We spent an intensive, inspirational time together where inter-connectedness, learning and collaboration were in the centre.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Participants also had the possibility to enhance their skills in facilitating effective training sessions for others. The development of facilitation skills, including active listening, group management, and communication techniques to encourage participant engagement and how to create an interactive learning They are now running Songs for Change workshops in their communities in which young people with fewer opportunities learn about EU values through non-formal and musical methods, how to write, compose and record songs about EU values and how to produce their own music videos. In September 2023, young people from this project will meet in Utrecht, the Netherlands, for a youth exchange and will set up a podcast-based web radio through which they will promote their produced
